Buena Vista junior guard Dominic Sesma has been recognized for his stellar play over the course of the last week by being named the American Rivers Conference Men's Basketball Performer of the Week, for the period ending January 12.

Sesma averaged 19.0 points over two games last week which included wins over both Loras (92-88 OT)  and Dubuque (93-77), respectively.  In that overtime victory against the Duhawks, Sesma hit the game-winning three-point basket just before the buzzer sounded to help cap a 23-point comeback victory for the Beavers.  He finished the contest with 17 points and a pair of long range buckets.  He followed that up with a game-high 21 points and two more makes from long distance while also pulling down four rebounds and dishing out four assists.

He shot over 54 percent from the field for the week and was 4-of-10 from downtown and a perfect 8-of-8 at the charity stripe.  For the year, he ranks seventh in the A-R-C, averaging 2.1 three-point makes per contest.  He's averaging 13.6ppg which is second on the team and 14th in the league.

This marks the first weekly honor in Sesma's career, and he becomes the first Beaver to be recognized since Conor Winkelman on Feb. 11 of last season.

Buena Vista (13-2, 4-2 A-R-C) will look for its fourth straight win overall when it entertains Simpson College (8-6, 2-3 A-R-C) on Wednesday, January 15, at 7:30 p.m.
