Keuka College Downed at University of Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Keuka College Men's Basketball team lost on Saturday at the University of Rochester 80-46 in the Holiday Inn Downtown Thanksgiving Tournament.

Keuka College (1-4) was led by James Barnes (Rochester, N.Y. / University Prep) with 14 points. Kyle Coffin (Newark Valley, N.Y. / Newark Valley) added eight for the Wolves.

It was a slow start on Saturday as the two teams combined for just three field goals in the opening five minutes. The Yellowjackets held the early lead over the Wolves, using a run to build an 11-5 advantage. Rochester extended their lead to double-digits, but Keuka answered with five unanswered, led by a three by Devin Milton (Opalousas, La. / Beau Chene). The Green and Gold battled to stay in the game. James Barnes drained a jumper before halftime to cut the deficit to five, 30-25 at the break.

Rochester regrouped at the half and opened the second with 12 straight points against the Wolves to build a 42-25 lead. Achraf Sadouk (Williamsburg, Va. / Bruton) hit a three to stop the run 4:34 into the second half, but the Yellowjackets responded with five more points. Rochester would push their lead to as many as 37 in the second half as the Yellowjackets defeated the Wolves 80-46 on Saturday.

  • Keuka College falls to 0-9 all-time against the University of Rochester in their first meeting since the 2008-09 season
  • It is the seventh appearance for Keuka College in the Holiday Inn Downtown Tournament, the second-most amongst visiting teams. Keuka is now 3-10 in those games
  • Kyle Coffin tied his career-high with eight points for the Wolves, doing so in back-to-back games
  • The Wolves were 14-57 from the floor, shooting 24.6%. It was the first time Keuka was held under 30% shooting since December 2016

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves will find out their opponent in the consolation game later tonight following the game between Neumann University and Utica College. Keuka College will tipoff from the University of Rochester at 1pm on Sunday.
