Trinity Men's Basketball Soundly Beats Elms

Hartford, Conn. – Junior Colin Donovan (Westborough, Mass.) scored 17 points and added three assists to lead the Trinity College Bantams to an 82-58 win over the visiting Elms College Blazers in men's basketball action this evening at Oosting Gymnasium.  Trinity improves to 4-2 with its third victory in a row, while the Blazers fall to 2-5.  The Bantams host No. 6-ranked Nichols on Sunday at 2 p.m. in their next game, while Elms visits St. Joseph (Conn.) on Tuesday, December 3 at 7 p.m.

Trinity led wire-to-wire, going ahead, 15-5, less than five minutes into the game on a put-back by senior co-captain Nick Seretta (Greenfield, Mass.) and leading by as many as 25 in the first half.  The Bantams opened up their largest advantage of the game at 72-43 midway through the second stanza on a Seretta layup, but the Blazers outscored the home team, 15-10, the rest of the way.  Trinity dominated the glass with a 69-to-30 rebounding edge and held the Blazers to 32.3 percent shooting from the field and just three three-pointers in 22 attempts.  The Bantams struggled from deep as well, going 7-for-35 from beyond the arc.  The teams combined to shoot 61.1 percent from the foul line (22-36).

Five Bantams finished in double figures in scoring, as seniors Kyle Padmore (Milton, Mass.) and Joe Bell (Manchester, N.H.) had 12 points each while Seretta and junior forward Donald Jorden (Tampa, Fla.) scored 10 apiece.  Jorden added 132 rebounds, while Padmore grabbed 11 boards and blocked three shots, and Seretta finished with 10 rebounds.  Sophomore guard David Lopez (Willimantic, Conn.) paced the Blazers with 10 points, while classmate Will Leach (Washington, D.C.) contributed seven points and eight rebounds off the Elms bench.
