LOS ANGELESEvan Dray and Kyle Dosa led five Occidental players in double figures as the Tigers beat West Coast Baptist 88-63 at Rush Gym on Thursday night.

Dray, a 6-foot-5 forward from Palo Alto, scored a career-high 23 points on mid range jumpers, free throws and layups by the basket. He finished the game 9 for 14 and 5 for 5 from the line.

Dosa was effective cutting out of the high post, finishing with 17 points on 6 for 8 shooting.

Caleb Yellin-Flaherty, the SCIAC's Defensive Player of the Week, continued his outstanding play, scoring 12 points on 6 for 10 shooting, with eight rebounds, six assists and three steals.

Ryan Kaneshiro, who led the country in assist to turnover ratio last year and is one of the best on ball defenders in NCAA Division III, is finding his legs after missing time with a injury at the beginning of the season. He had 10 points on 4 for 7 shooting, along with five rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Oxy got up big, leading 46-27 by halftime.

West Coast Baptist had a mini run to cut it to a 13-point lead in the second half, but Kaneshiro and the Tigers righted the ship and were able to secure a bench-clearing victory.

The Tigers got solid contributions from Anthony Hollerich, who has 10 points, seven rebounds and two blocks, and Sohan Kshirsagar, who had three rebounds and three assists.

Michael Phaneuf chipped in four points down the stretch, and Tejan Lanser, Miles Mahoney, Isaak Ottmar and Forrest Nishi all saw their first action of the year.

Seth Hanna led West Coast Baptist with 23 points and Ian Russell had 21.

Season Impact: Oxy improves to 4-0 on the season.
