LOS ANGELES — The Occidental men's basketball team beat Bethesda 82-64 on Saturday night, moving to 3-0 on the season.

Caleb Yellin-Flaherty led the way with 20 points, six rebounds and two assists, to go along with good defense on and off the ball.

Kyle Dosa, who's emerged as a key starter for the Tigers this season, scored a career-high 17 points on 7 for 10 shooting, and had five rebounds and no turnovers. He was strong with the ball and made good hockey passes that led to open shots.

The Tigers jumped out to a 43-29 lead at half and then after Bethesda made their second-half push, Ryan Kaneshiro led the Tigers' defense for a couple key stretches as Oxy got stops and slowly pulled away.

Kaneshiro rebounded well, along with playing good defense before and after his man caught the ball. He scored two points and had seven rebounds.

Jacob Adler had an off night shooting the ball, going 5 for 11, but still finished with 12 points and five rebounds.

The Tigers got key contributions for a trio of freshman. Sydney Shipp had nine points, four rebounds and played good defense, Evan Dray had eight points and eight rebounds, and Gray Davidson scored 10 points on 3 for 4 shooting, showing off spurts of athleticism by the basket at both ends of the court.

Bethesda's Josiah Woods kept the Flames in the game and gave them a chance, lighting Oxy up for 27 points on 9 for 12 shooting from the 3-point line.

Next Game: The Tigers are back in action against Westmont in an exhibition game on Tuesday.
