Lake Forest College Opens Season with Victory over North Park

Sophomore guard scored a game-high 18 points as Lake Forest hosted and defeated North park University 91-62 in Saturday night's season opener for both teams.

Brown shot 7-for-8 from the field with his only miss coming on one of three attempts from three-point range. He also grabbed four rebounds and dished out three assists in the contest. Junior guard Sean Espinosa was the only other starter in double figures in points, finishing with 11 to go with six rebounds, two steals, and a game-high seven assists.

The Forester bench accounted for 50 of the team's points. A pair of freshmen, guard Aidyn Albright and wing Zak Klug, each connected four times from beyond the arc and scored 14 and 12, respectively, while freshman wing Reece Taylor added 10.

Lake Forest shot 48.7 percent from the field and made 13 of 34 attempts from three-point range while the Vikings finished at 39.3 percent overall and 7-for-25 on threes. The home team also had a 46-36 edge in rebounds and committed just 10 turnovers while forcing 18.

Brown started the game with a jumper less than 10 seconds in and, after North Park tied the score on a couple of free throws, gave the Foresters the lead for good on a three-pointer. That started a 19-2 run and the home team led by as many as 23 in the opening period. Brown scored the final points on the half on a layup with 27 seconds on the clock and Lake Forest went into the locker room at halftime ahead 47-25.

A 12-2 Forester run to start the second half extended the lead to 32 points and the margin grew to as many as 38.

Lake Forest will continue non-conference play Wednesday night at the University of Chicago. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
