(Gettysburg, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's basketball team opened a big lead in the second half as they handed Head Coach Alan Seretti his 200th career win on Thursday night, posting an 80-64 win at Gettysburg. Seretti is in his 10th season with the Red Devils after spending four years at Penn State Altoona. He has an overall record of 200-168, winning a pair of Centennial Conference Championships and making eight straight playoff appearances.
The Red Devils and Bullets played even through the opening minutes with the hosts pulling in front by five at the midpoint of the first half.
Elijah Wright (Orange, N.J./The Pennington School) had a strong start and scored five straight with a lay-up and a three-pointer to cut the deficit to a field-goal. Minutes later Mike Hinckley (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Episcopal Academy) converted a three-point play and Wright scored again to knot the game, 21-21.
The Red Devils built the lead to eight at the four-minute mark and held a 31-27 advantage at the break, behind 13 points from Wright.
Wright had a good start to the second half as well and the Red Devils used a 5-0 run to take a 48-41 lead with 11 minutes remaining.
Bryce Allen (Albany, N.Y./The Hill School) banged a three-pointer and Wright finished an assist from Hinckley to give Dickinson a 55-44 advantage. Hinckley made a steal and scored and then knocked down a three-pointer to extend the lead to 16, with eight minutes to play.
Wright added a three and Hinckley hit two free throws as the Red Devils opened the margin to 21. The Red Devils maintained the margin for the remainder of the second half as Wright finished with a season-high 26 points on the night.
Hinckley had a solid shooting night, netting 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting, going 5-for-5 from the free throw line. He tallied four rebounds, four steals and three assists as well.
Allen reached double-figures with 12 points, adding four rebounds and two assists. First-year Will Colleran (Wayne, Pa./Valley Forge Military Academy) controlled four rebounds and handed out three assists.
The Red Devils improve to 9-9 overall and 7-4 in the Centennial Conference. They return home to face Ursinus College on Saturday at 4:00 pm.
