Ginther's Career-High 23 Leads DePauw to Victory

Greencastle, Ind. - Nolan Ginther scored a career-high 23 points including the first nine DePauw points of the second half and led the Tigers to a 62-54 North Coast Athletic Conference win over Kenyon. The Tigers improved to 11-6 overall and 5-5 in the NCAC, while the Lords are now 1-16 overall and 0-10 in conference play.

Both teams struggled offensively in the opening half with DePauw getting out to as much as a six-point lead at 16-10. Kenyon knotted the score at 19-19 before DePauw grabbed a 22-21 halftime advantage.

Kenyon gained the early lead in the second half before Ginther converted back-to-back 3-point plays to put DePauw ahead, 28-24.

The Tigers stretched the lead to 36-28 after Ken Decker's trey with 13:43 left. However, Kenyon put together a 12-3 run to move ahead 40-39. DePauw trailed 45-43, but converted second-chance opportunities on two straight possessions to gain a 47-45 advantage.

Ginther's bucket pushed the lead to four before Elijah Davis cut it to one at 49-48 with a three-point play with 5:51 left. That, however, was the Lords' last field goal of the contest. The game was tied at 50-50, but a 7-1 DePauw run stretched the lead to 57-51 at the 2:30 mark.

Carter Powell hit two free throws and Ugnius Zilinskas added another to close the gap to 57-54 before Aaron Shank's dunk with 1:21 left made it a five-point game.

The teams exchanged turnovers before Kenyon missed a 3-pointer and Luke Steinhart hit a pair of free throws with 45 seconds remaining to make it 61-54.

Ginther's 23 led all scorers, while Andrew Kus added 11 rebounds and three blocks and Steinhart a career-high 10 boards. 

Davis scored 14 and dished out three assists for Kenyon, while Powell finished with a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds.

DePauw shot 38.2 percent from the floor to Kenyon's 31.6 percent and the Tigers held a 49-31 rebounding advantage.
