Auggie 3 Pointers Do In Hamline

More news about: Hamline

14 three-pointers were too much to overcome for the HU men's basketball team in a 91-68 loss to Augsburg Wednesday night at Hutton Arena.

The Pipers made seven of their own long range missiles shot a credible 45 per cent for the game. They led the visitors in points in the paint (38-26) and was even in rebounds at 33 apiece. Isaac Brooks advanced his career total to 986 points with a 21 point  effort and Ethan Scheuring was a force as well with 15 points.

But the visitors threw in eight long distance shots in the first half and added six more in the second to keep Hamline at bay. In addition to his scoring prowess, Brooks had a game high nine rebounds and tied Trey Prince for the HU lead in assists with four. The Lakeville, Minn. native is just 14 points shy of becoming the 18th player in school history to record 1,000 career points.

Hamline is 8-7 overall, 5-5 in MIAC play. They have three road games in the next week, starting Saturday, January 19 at Bethel (3:00 p.m.). The Royals have the identical won-loss marks of the Pipers -- 8-7 overall, 5-5 in MIAC action.
