Jomard Leads #9 MIT Past UMass Dartmouth, 86-64

DARTMOUTH, Mass. --  Senior Bradley Jomard (Paris, France) scored 26 points, dished off nine assists and grabbed six rebounds to lead five players in double figures, as ninth-ranked MIT extended its winning streak to six straight with an 86-64 non-league college men's basketball victory over UMass Dartmouth Tuesday evening at the Tripp Athletic Center.

The visiting Engineers (6-1) blistered the nets at a 55 percent clip in the opening 20 minutes of play to take a 44-29 advantage at the break, as Jomard and senior AJ Yurko (Weston, Fla.) each scored 10 first half points.  MIT's hot shooting continued after intermission, as the visitors shot 55 percent (32-58) overall for the contest and held a 36-3 scoring edge from behind the arc by connecting on 12 three-pointers, including five from sophomore Ian Hinkley (Raleigh, N.C.).  The Engineers, who never trailed on the night, led by as many as 23 in the closing minutes of action, as MIT's five starters combined for 81 of 86 points.

Hinkley finished with 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists for the Engineers, who received a double-double effort of 14 points and 13 boards from senior Tim Roberts (Oak Bluffs, Mass.).  Senior Cameron Korb (Los Gatos, Calif.) added 14 points (including four treys) for the winners, who received 12 points, three assists and a pair of steals from Yurko.  MIT shot 46 percent (12-26) from three-point range and held a 35-29 rebounding advantage for the contest.

Sophomore Jake Ashworth (Fairhaven, Mass.) paced the host Corsairs (4-4) in the scoring column with 20 points and six rebounds, while sophomore Harry Alexander (Washington, D.C.) added 14 points and three boards off the bench.  Senior Arinze Obiora (Hyde Park, Mass.) was also in double figures with 10 points and five caroms for UMass Dartmouth, which received seven points from senior Atakan Akcam (Ankara, Turkey).  The hosts shot 46 percent (28-61) from the field overall but connected on just one of nine attempts from three-point range on the night.

UMass Dartmouth travels to Bridgewater, Mass. on Thursday evening to take on Bridgewater State in a non-league outing that tips-off at 7:30 pm, while MIT heads to Salem, Mass. on Thursday evening to square off with Salem State in a non-league contest that also tips-off at 7:30 pm.
