The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins men's basketball team drained 15 three-pointers en route to an 81-63 win over host Washington College Wednesday night.

How it Happened

• Following a Daniel Vila dunk that put Hopkins up 8-7, Austin Allen hit a layup to ignite a 7-0 Washington College run. He book-ended the run with a fast-break bucket to stake the Shoremen to a 14-8 lead with 13:55 to play in the half.

• Junior Michael Gardner ended the run with a fast-break layup of his own and classmate Joey Fitzpatrick followed with a bucket in the paint to make it a two-point game. Tas Dixon answered with a jumper in the paint and the lead was 16-12. Senior Kyle Doran then went three-of-four on back-to-back trips to the charity stripe to pull the Jays within one.

• Alec Lewis hit a jumper and Allen sank a free throw to put the home team back up four, 19-15, with 9:49 to go in the half. Freshman Conner Delaney followed with a pair of free throws to spark a 19-5 run that saw the Blue Jays go up 34-24 with 4:56 left in the half. Gardner and seniors Kyle Doran and Jesse Flannery fueled the run with a combined five three-pointers.

• Allen got the lead back to single digits with a jumper, but Doran answered with four straight points, followed by a Delaney layup to make it a 14-point game. The teams traded buckets over the remainder of the half and Hopkins went into the break with a 47-34 lead.

• The teams picked up where they left off to start the second, trading buckets over the opening eight-and-a-half minutes. Leading 61-49, junior Noah Ralby drained a bucket from downtown to kick-start a quick eight-point run that pushed the lead to 20 at the midway point of the half.

• The lead went back-and-forth over the ensuing six minutes and Hopkins led 76-56. A pair of Ralby free throws, followed by a Kabir Suri three-pointer gave Hopkins its biggest lead of the night, 81-56, with 1:23 remaining. Washington College would close the game on a seven-point run to make it a 81-63 final.

• Hopkins ran its win streak to 10, the Blue Jays' longest win streak since a 17-game streak in the 2014-15 season.

• The Blue Jays' 15 three-pointers are one shy of the school record, set earlier this season at Kean. Hopkins now has 219 three-point field goals on the season, breaking the school record of 209 set in 2014-15.
