How It Happened

• The Spartans got off to a good start as they took an early 5-0 lead. That lead would be erased as the Wolverines scored 10 of the next 13 points in the game as Wesley took a 10-8 lead. The Spartans responded with a 12-2 run as York pushed out to a 20-12 lead with 9:38 left in the first half.

• The Wolverine game plan then started to wear on the Green and White as Wesley stayed in their zone defense and York was content to continue to take shots beyond the arc. The Wolverines outscored York 11-2 over the next three minutes as they forged a 23-22 lead. York recaptured the lead at 30-26 but the Wolverines ended the half on a 10-3 run to take a 36-33 lead to the break. It's just the sixth time this year that the Spartans have trailed at the break. The Spartans took 29 shots in the first half with a whooping 26 coming from distance.

• The opening minutes of the second half featured back and forth play. There were four ties and two lead changes before the Spartans finally took the lead for good on a Mike Frauenheim three pointer with 13:40 left in the game. Despite York not surrendering the lead the rest of the lead, York advantage see-sawed between one and four points over the next three minutes as the teams took turns lobbing three pointers at each other. York got two three pointers from Frauenheim and a triple from Darin Gordon and Jared Wagner as the Spartans had a stretch of four straight three pointers. Wesley answered with threes from George Cook and Mychal Stefanides as York led 58-54 with 10:06 left in the game.

• The Wolverines trimmed the York lead to two twice over the next three minutes but York outscored Wesley 14-2 over the final 6:04 of the game to earn the 12 point conference win.
