Albion falls at Trine

ANGOLA, Ind. – Trine University ripped off a 16-0 run early in the second half to pull away for a 104-74 victory over Albion College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's basketball action.

Five Thunder players scored during the rally with Langston Johnson and Pete Smith each hitting a pair of shots.

Albion trailed by 12 with three minutes left in the first half, but Ryan Lowe and Nathaniel Collins scored four points each to bring the Britons within two, 45-43, at halftime.

Quinton Armstrong scored Albion's first four points of the second half as the teams traded baskets until Trine went on its scoring run.

Collins matched his season high of 17 points for the Britons. Jamezell Davis, Jr. chipped in with 15 points off the bench, Armstrong added 12 and Corey Wheeler stuffed the box score with nine points, nine rebounds and six assists.

Johnson (24), Myles Copeland (22) and Smith (21) all scored at least 21 for Trine.

Albion, 4-12 overall and 1-4 against MIAA rivals, travels to Calvin College for a MIAA game on Saturday.
