New York, NY: The Ramapo College men's basketball team earned their ninth straight victory in a 90-71 road win over non-conference rival Yeshiva University. The Roadrunners improve to 9-1 overall while the Maccabees now stand at 6-7 on the year.
The first half was a back and forth battle while the Roadrunners were able to go into the locker room up 42-39. Yeshiva was up 37-34 with less than four minutes left before Ramapo went on an 8-2 run to close out the first half. Patrick Peterson scored six points in the run while Nick Stanek put in the final points for the Roadrunners 42-37. Yeshiva added two points at the end of the half with a tip-in from Kevin Bokor with eight seconds remaining 42-39. The game was tied seven times in the half while the Roadrunners shot 46% (15-32) from the field, 50% (4-8) from the three-point line and 80% (8-10) from the free throw line. Peterson led Ramapo in the first half with 11 points while Moseley contributed with ten points of his own.
In the first five minutes of the second half the game was tied four more times. A three-pointer from Simcha Halpert tied the game at 52 (15:03) before Stanek and Peterson hit back-to-back shots for Ramapo to take a 56-52 lead (13:39). The two teams traded baskets before Bar Alluf and Yoav Deutsch hit back-to-back three-pointers between a layup from Peterson as the game was once again tied 60-60 with 11:21 on the clock. A made basket from Peterson and a pair of free throws from Alluf tied the game with 10:47 left on the clock 62-62. Peterson completed an and-one play that started an 11-0 run which was capped off with a tip-in from Stanek as the Roadrunners stretched their lead to 73-62. Following a made free throw from Alluf, Ramapo's James Long started a mini 6-0 run with a jumper as Ramapo extending the lead 79-63 with under 4:30 to play. Ford scored a layup (81-65) before Alluf was fouled while shooting a three-pointer; he converted on all three free throws before Thomas Bonacum made a basket to push the lead back to 83-68 with less than three minutes to play. Yeshiva's Tal Gweta scored a three-pointer for the team's final points of the night as the Roadrunners ended the game on a 7-0 run. Long nailed a three-pointer before Moseley tallied back-to-back tip-ins as the Roadrunners came away with a hard fought 90-71 road victory.
Rampao out rebounded Yeshiva 41-24 and forced 19 turnovers that led to 24 points for the Roadrunners. Rampao also scored 50 points in the paint to Yeshiva's 18. Stanek and Peterson each collected career highs in points tonight. Stanek led the team with 23 points finishing 9-19 from the field and 4-5 from the free throw line; he also collected six rebounds and a team high two blocks. Peterson finished with 22 points including 8-13 from the field and 5-5 from the free throw line, he also collected five rebounds. Moseley posted 16 points, seven rebounds and four assists while Ford contributed with ten points, three assists and three rebounds.
Alluf led the way for Yeshiva with 19 points while Daniel Katz and Halpert each added 14 points. Gweta added 13 points while Alluf dished out a team high seven assists. The team shot 46% (24-52) from the field, 34% (11-32) from beyond the three-point line and 80% (12-15) from the free throw line.
The Roadrunners, who are ranked #6 in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 poll, will go up against their first nationally ranked opponent of the season on December 28th at the 2018 D3hoops.com Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ramapo will take on #14 ranked Ohio Wesleyan University at 7pm EST. The Battling Bishops are 8-1 overall and are on a four game win streak of their own.
