Falcons Soar Past Cougar Men In Season Finale

February 18, 2017- With the 2016-17 Concordia-Chicago basketball season coming to a close, the Cougars would welcome arch rival CUW into Geiseman Gymnasium for a rivalry matchup with the Concordia-Wisconsin Falcons. CUW already qualified for the NACC tournament next week, would be a tough test for CUC, who would honor seniors Kyle Hoffman and Austin Walker prior to the game. CUW jumped out early and often cruising to a 110-76 win over the Cougars to close the season.
 
Early on it was all Falcons who opened the game with an 8-0 run before Mitch Pelissier and Israel Dosie got CUC on the board with a layup and a three. CUW continued to have their way offensively early leading to a Cougar timeout with CUC trailing 18-8 just five minutes in. A layup and a pair of free-throws by Hoffman helped to get the Cougars back within six out of the timeout. CUC continued to hang around with a three by Jarek Hotwagner and four straight points by Dosie. The Cougars continued their run out of a Falcon timeout with a Louis Fernando layup and another pair of Dosie brought CUC within one, before it would be Hoffman again giving CUC a 33-32 lead on a pair of bonus free-throws. The teams continued to exchange blows over the next few minutes, before CUW closed the half on a 17-0 run over the final 2:53 to take a 61-41 lead into the locker room.
 
CUW continued to push the lead in the early goings of the second half and would continue to push their lead to as many as 31 in the second half. Cruising to a 110-76 win over CUC.
 
Hoffman would lead CUC with 18 points to close out his career. Dosie, Hotwagner and Pelissier all finished in double figures as well. CUC would finish the year shooting 36 percent from the floor, while CUW shot 50 percent for the game.
 
The Cougars finish the 2016-17 season with a 5-20 record and a 4-16 record in the NACC.
