Three Gophers Score in Double Digits in 66-54 Loss

WASHINGTON, DC – Seniors Tre Galloway III and Jesse Mondry along with sophomore Uvan Stewart scored 13 points each in a 66-54 loss to Catholic on the road Wednesday evening.

 

Stewart's 13 points mark a career-high only one game after setting the same standard (11 points vs. Drew). Senior Chris Outing paced the Gophers with nine rebounds in the game while scoring six points.

 

The Cardinals were led by senior Louis Khouri with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Jay Howard and Freshman Brandon Easton scored 14 and 11 points, respectively, to aid in the win.

 

How It Happened:

  • The opening minutes were a firefight with both teams jostling for supremacy before the Cardinals created a cushion, 26-13, with 2:45 to go in the first half.
  • Goucher fell behind 35-15 as the buzzer sounded for the mid-game break.
  • The Gophers shot 20.0% (6-of-30) in the first half compared to the Cardinals who shot 39.3% (11-of-28) from the field.
  • Goucher opened the second half on an 18-4 run to get back into the game 39-33 with 13:35 to go.
  • At the 8:04 mark, the Gophers trailed 43-40 before the Cardinals rattled off a 10-4 run to create wiggle room.
  • Catholic remained out of reach down the stretch and as the final buzzer rang was on top, 66-54.
  • Goucher shot 30.6% (19-of-62) over the course of the game and held the Cardinals to 35.2% (19-of-54) shooting.
  • The Gophers outshot Catholic 81.3% to 80.0% from the charity stripe and shot 37.5% from 3PT range while holding the Cardinals to only 19.0% shooting.
