ROCHESTER, NY – 15 unanswered Hartwick points to commence the second half of the consolation game of the Harold Brodie Tournament against Clark Summit University ultimately set the table as the Hawks would run away with the 95-72 victory on Sunday afternoon at Clark Gym.
Four Hawks registered double digits in scoring including a game-high 21 from sophomore guard Brandon LaForest (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes HS) en route to the team's second largest margin of victory in the developing season, just one-point shy of its season opener against Union.
Junior forward Jake Sinicki's (Endicott, NY/Maine-Endwell HS) career-high tally of 32 points a day prior with the addition of a 12-point, two assists, five rebounds and three blocks performance today earned him a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
The other Hawks to score in double figures were senior guard Joey Lufkin (Argyle, NY/Argyle) who had 18 points and six assists and sophomore guard Ned Bakic (Garfield, NJ/Garfield HS) off the bench providing 15 points and three helpers in just 16 minutes of action.
For the Defenders, Dontier Phelps and John McCloskey finished with 15 and 12 points, respectively, while Antwan Bradley, Nick Peter and Donald Miler each banked 10.
Though Hartwick claimed the advantage for most of the first half, Clark Summit remained within striking distance and nearly settled the halftime score until Bakic added a 3-ball seconds before the intermission, 39-36.
Heading into the second stanza, 'Wick began to pull away rattling off 15 consecutive points for a 20-point advantage (56-36) before a shot by Miller down low briefly severed the streak.
Yet another trey from Bakic on the ensuing possession and a bank in off the glass from senior forward Stavros Kerchoulas(Athens, Greece/Athens College) seconds after would grant Hartwick its largest lead of the contest to eventually charge them with the win.
Next up on the schedule is a game carrying strong historic tradition as the Hawks visit local rival, Oneonta, Tuesday, November 29th at 8 p.m.
