Geneseo Shoots Past Morrisville, 89-65

GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior guard Justin Ringen scored a game-high 20 points to go along with eight rebounds while sophomore guard Kevin Crockett added 19 points to lead the Knights to a 89-65 victory over visiting Morrisville, Tuesday.

Senior forward Nick Fessenden added 15 points on 7-of-11 shooting while also grabbing eight boards for Geneeo (4-0). 

Both teams combined for a fast-paced first half. Trailing, 33-32, with 7:55 on the clock, the Knights used an 11-0 run, book-ended by Ringen and Crockett three-pointers, to take a 43-33 at 5:48.

A Morrisville three-pointer by junior guard Qwuhail Barlow broke the run at 4:09, but Geneseo connected on five of its next six field goals and finished the half on a 14-4 run to build a 57-40 lead after 20 minutes of play.

In the second half, the Knights' lead grew to as many as 29 points down the stretch as the home team finished the game shooting 48.6 percent from the field, including a 48.0 percent (12-for-25) clip from three-point range. Crockett connected on 5-of-8 shots from long-range, while Ringen was 4-of-7.

Barlow led the way for the Mustangs (3-2) with 15 points, including 14 in the first half, but was forced to the bench early in the second half after picking up his fourth foul. Sophomore guard Trent Ward chipped in 10 points in the loss.

Geneseo returns to action next week, playing in the opening round of the 50th-Annual Wendy's College Classic on Wednesday (Dec. 2), with opponent, site and time to be announced.
