Owls stay unbeaten with 89-66 win over UNE

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Keene State College won for the fourth time in as many games to start the season, defeating the University of New England by a score of 89-66 in men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 21) at the Harold Alfond Forum.

The Owls (4-0) never trailed in the contest behind 51 percent (33 for 65) shooting from the field. Nate Stitchell tallied a team-high 17 points with Lucas Hammel contributing 14 more. Matt Ozzella finishing with 12 points as well as a game-best nine rebounds, helping KSC to a 43-23 advantage on the boards.

The Nor'easters (3-2), who met their first setback in the last four outings, were paced by Devin Thompson with 17 points.Jean-Luc Parker and Ben Judson notched 12 points apiece in support, and Evrim Ozkan went 4-of-4 shooting the ball to end with nine.

With a 16-13 edge midway through the opening half, Keene State used a five-minute span to push the gap into double digits with a 16-4 stretch that saw five different players score. Andrew Houde posted all of his five in 19 seconds towards the end of the separating run.

The margin was 40-29 at intermission, and the visitors were able to maintain the comfortable cushion the rest of the way.

Both teams resume play on Tuesday. The Owls head from Springfield College that night (6:30 p.m.), while UNE travels to Bowdoin College for a 5:30 p.m. match.
