(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – All 16 Saints scored today (Saturday, February 14, 2015) as the Thomas More College men's basketball team defeated Washington & Jefferson College, 100-42, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the win, the Saints improve to 16-8 overall and 11-4 in the PAC. With the loss, the Presidents fall to 1-22 overall and 0-14 in the PAC.
Thomas More took an early 14-6 lead when sophomore guard/forward Nate McGovney (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) made a three-pointer with 13:44 to play in the first half. W&J answered with a 10-4 run capped by a Tyler Hass jumper with 10:11 to play in the half to cut the lead to 18-16. The Saints closed out the half on a 30-5 run to take a 48-21 lead at halftime when senior guard Eliot Pipes (Nashville, Ky./Hillsboro) made a three-point with 34-seconds to play in the first half.
The Saints continued to dominate in the second half as they out-scored the Presidents 52-21 as they cruised to the 100-42 victory.
Thomas More shot 56.1 percent (37-of-66) from the field, including 51.6 percent (16-of-31) from behind the arc. The Saints out-scored W&J 32-16 in the paint and 26-8 off turnovers.
Freshman center Louis Maniacci (Burlington, Ky./Cooper) led the Saints with a double-double as he scored 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Senior forward Drew Mumford (Louisville, Ky./Christian Academy) added 16 points, while freshman guard Daniel Williams (Louisville, Ky./Jeffersontown) led the team in assists with five.
Thomas More is idle until next Saturday (February 21) when it travels to Latrobe, Pennsylvania to play PAC front-runner Saint Vincent College. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. inside the Carey Center.
