TIFFIN — Men's basketball second half rally comes up short as Ohio Northern falls to Heidelberg 75-71 Wednesday evening at the Seiberling Gymnasium. 

The Polar Bears fall to 10-12, 5-10 Ohio Athletic Conference, while Heidelberg improves to 10-12, 6-9.

With just over 12 minutes remaining in the contest Ohio Northern sophomore Aron Thress was able to sink a pair of free-throws that would trigger a Polar Bear 10-0 run giving ONU the 61-57 advantage.

Following a three pointer from sophomore Devon Allen and a layup from senior Lucas Pennington the Polar Bears were able to extend its lead to 71-66 with two minutes remaining in regulation.

Heidelberg stepped up the defense as they were able to hold Ohio Northern scoreless for the remaining two minutes of play in route to the 75-71 victory.

Sophomore Konner Baker led Ohio Northern as he scored a team-high 12 points.

Ohio Northern's bench out scored Heidleberg 31-28, as Allen netted 11 for the Polar Bears.

Thress chipped in nine points for ONU and grabbed a team-high six rebounds.

Heidelberg was led by Kiere Bennie who scored a game-high 18 points.

Ohio Northern is next in action Saturday as they return to the ONU Sports Center to take on Muskingum and celebrate Senior Day.
