The Bearcat men's basketball team kept its perfect home record intact (7-0) with a Presidents' Athletic Conference win over Washington & Jefferson, 87-51.
Saint Vincent also remained perfect in the PAC, now 6-0, while improving to 11-4 overall.
Jaylon Bell opened the game with a three just under a minute into play, and Pat Jones hit a three just over a minute later to make it 6-0. W&J's Jake Swan hit a three with 15:12 remaining, making the score 8-7, but that was as close as the visitors would get.
A Ben Klimchock three from the corner made the score 13-7, and back-to-back scores by Jones near the 13-minute mark ran the lead to 17-9. Sean Kett then stepped outside the arc and hit a three from the top of the key at the 11:30 mark that made it 20-9, and the Bearcats tacked on 7 more points to extend the run to 14, capped by a Geoff FuQuay three.
After a Presidents' score, FuQuay hit another trey to make the score 30-11. Later in the half, Klimchock hit a long three, followed by a Bell steal and drive that carried the Bearcats into the half up 44-25.
W&J (1-14 overall, 0-6 PAC) never recoverd, as SVC continued to add points in the second half. Threes by Jones and Klimchock were followed by a Bobby Swartwout score that ran the lead to 26 (54-28). Later in the half, Kyle Rivera set up John LeGrande for a dunk which was followed by 7 points from Dan Sinwell, as the lead swelled to over 30, at 79-45.
Jones led the offense with 15 points, while Kett added 12 points and a team best 7 rebounds. JC Howard (11) and Bell (10) also scored in double figures. The defense blocked 11 shots on the night, led by LeGrande with four. Rivera had 5 assists, while Kett had three steals.
Saint Vincent returns to action on Saturday (January 17) on the road in Kentucky against Thomas More College. Game time is 3PM.
