SCRANTON, Pa. – The Cabrini men's basketball team saw its three game win streak come to an end tonight, as the Cavaliers suffered an 85-65 loss at No. 24 University of Scranton. The Blue and White's largest loss to Scranton since a 89-60 loss in 2006-07 drops the club to 3-2.
Senior Aaron Walton-Moss Led the Cavaliers with 27 points, five rebounds, five steals and four assists. Freshman Jair Green added 12 points. Fellow rookie Tyheim Monroe grabbed a team high six rebounds.
Despite opening the game with a three pointer from senior Vinny Walls, the Cavaliers fell behind early. The Royals responded with a 12-0 run and never looked back.
While the Blue and white struggled to find its shooting touch in the Long Center, Scranton took advantage of its familiar surroundings. The Royals connected on 17-26 in the opening 20 minutes, including 6-13 from three point range, building a 47-30 halftime lead.
Brendan Boken led Scranton (4-1) with 19 points, while Sean Cummings added 17 points off the bench.
The Cavaliers will return to Nerney Field House on Saturday, as they host the 2014 Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. The event features three game, including Rosemont vs. Rowan at Noon, followed by Neumann vs. Penn State Abington.
Cabrini will close the day's action at 4:30, as it faces No. 7 Dickinson College (3-1).
