Berry loses at Transy

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Berry College lost at Transylvania, 99-71, on Sunday evening. The Vikings dropped to 4-6 and Transy moved to 4-5.

Owen Jacobs had 12 points to lead BC. He was 6-7 from the free throw line in the game. Lee McCloud and Nick Marder both contributed 11 points in the defeat.

Transylvania led 44-37 at halftime. The Vikings started the second half strong. BC outscored the Pioneers 11-4 to tie the game at 48, all with 16:48 remaining.

The home club, however, then went on a 14-0 run over the next three minutes and never looked back.

For the game, Berry shot 39-percent (25-64) to Transy's 59-percent (37-63). The Pioneers won the battle of the boards, 45-26.

Parker Stansberry tallied a game-best 19 points to lead the Pioneers. All five Transy starters scored in double figures in the game.

The Vikings close play at Transylvania's Don Lane Classic Tournament on Monday at 3 p.m. vs. Denison.
