Rams Drop Regular Season Finale at Mount Saint Mary

Newburgh, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team fell, 69-58, at Mount Saint Mary despite double-doubles by both Donald Lawes (Queens, N.Y.) and Curtis Williams (Stony Brook, N.Y.). The Rams will enter next weeks Skyline Conference playoffs as the #3 seed, while the Knights are ranked seccond.

Tied 35-35 early in the second half, back-to-back Mount Saint Mary (20-5, 16-2) 3-pointers by Donte Howell (Baldwin, N.Y.) and Joe Stabach (Staten Island, N.Y.) put the Knights ahead by six with 16:52 remaining. Farmingdale State (17-8, 13-5) answered with an 8-1 run to over the next 4:38 to take a one-point lead, 43-42.

After the Knights took a 51-49 lead, they used a 14-5 run where they hit four 3's to take a 65-54 advantage with only 1:26 remaining. Mount Saint Mary held on for the 69-58 conference victory.

Lawes led the Rams with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Williams added 17 points and 13 boards.

Stabach tallied a game-high 21 after connecting on a seven 3-pointers for the Knights.

The Rams will host sixth-seeded St. Joseph's in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, February 25th at 8:00 p.m.
