DEFIANCE, OHIO – A quick-starting Defiance College offense, coupled with some tough luck field goal shooting for Manchester University, led the visiting Spartans to a 73-46 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference loss Wednesday, Feb. 19.

MU, dipping to 5-19 overall and 4-13 in the HCAC, trailed only 13-8 with under 11:30 to go in the first half. From that point, DC (19-5, 14-3 HCAC) took off on a 20-1 run and didn't look back.

Despite hitting at less than 25 percent from the field overall and going two-for-19 from outside the arc, the Black and Gold did receive a nine-point, five-rebound, two-steal game from sophomore guard Brady Dolezal (Tipton, Ind.) that led the squad in scoring and steals. Sophomore guard Matt Brown (Hobart, Ind.) came off the bench to score eight points, grab five rebounds and pick two steals as well, while sophomore forward Jarod Schrock (Logansport, Ind.) cemented himself in the conference's top five in blocked shots with three rejections of Yellowjacket attempts.

Manchester University closes its 2013-14 campaign Saturday, Feb. 22, with Hanover College's visit to North Manchester. Tip-off time is 3 p.m.

NOTES: Schrock equaled a single-game season high with his three blocks. He ended with the similar number against Defiance at home in December.
