BROOKLINE, Mass. - First year guard Daivon Edwards (Boston, Mass.) earned New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week honors after helping guide the Newbury College men's basketball team to a 1-1 week, announced Monday morning.
In his only game of the week against Elms College on Tuesday January 28th, Edwards registered a career single-game high 30 points, six rebounds and two steals against the Blazers. Shooting an impressive 50% from the floor (9-for-18), the Brighton native was lethal from the outside, draining a career single-game high six treys – including four in the first 10 minutes to help the Nighthawks jump out to a 22-8 advantage.
The Nighthawks will be back in action tomorrow evening when they travel to Leicester, Mass. looking to split the season series against Becker College at 8:00 p.m. Newbury dropped their first meeting to the Hawks, 76-48, on January 11th at home.
