Cilley & Tribble Lead Anchormen Past Plymouth State

Plymouth, N.H.-Freshmen guards  Austin Cilley (Westerly, RI) and Terrance Tribble (White Plains, NY) led the way with 11 and 10 points, respectively, as Rhode Island College downed Plymouth State, 58-41, in Little East Conference men's basketball action played at Foley Gym on Saturday afternoon.

 

Junior center Victor Smith (Providence, RI) contributed nine points and five boards for the Anchormen (10-5, 4-1 LEC).

 

Plymouth State (8-7, 2-3 LEC) was led by senior guard Petey Skevas (Wethersfield, CT), who scored a game-high 12 points.

 

RIC, which led, 24-20, after the first 20 minutes, shot 44 percent from the field (25-for-57), 46 percent (6-for-13) from downtown and 29 percent (2-for-7) from the free throw line.

 

The Anchormen outscored the hosts, 34-21, over the final 20 minutes to close out the win.

 

PSU shot 27 percent (13-for-49) from the field, 33 percent (3-for-9) from downtown and 75 percent (12-for-16) from the charity stripe. RIC held the advantage in rebounding, 42-31.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East Conference play at Western Connecticut on Tuesday, Jan. 21 (7:30 p.m.).
