The short-handed SUNY Potsdam men's basketball team lost 78-49 on the road to Oswego State in a SUNYAC game Saturday afternoon at Max Ziel Gym. 

The Bears were without the services of Rob Duquette (Peru, N.Y. / Peru) for the second straight game.  The senior forward leads the team in scoring average (13.6 per game) and rebounding average (10.0 per game). 

Potsdam (1-6 overall, 0-2 SUNYAC) shot just 38 percent from the floor and made just 8-of-17 from the free throw line.  Combined with just four assists to 15 turnovers, the Bears fell behind 41-16 at the break and were not able to recover.
In the second half, the Bears improved its shooting by connecting on 12-of-26 shots (46 percent) and just about traded baskets with the Lakers thereafter. 

Freshman Josh Blagrove (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Bishop Ford) turned in his third consecutive game scoring in double figures while shooting above 50 percent from the floor for the second time in the previous three games.  The 6-foot-6 forward led the Bears with a season-best 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting and six rebounds while junior guard Rishawd Hendricks (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Mount Zion Christian Academy) added a season-high 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting.

Oswego State (6-1 overall, 2-0 SUNYAC) went on a 17-0 run during the first half, holding the Bears without a basket for 5:47.   

Senior swingman Daniel Ross scored a game-high 18, junior forward Rashawn Powell added 16 and sophomore guard Kyle Covley chipped in 10 points for the Lakers, who have now won five straight. 

Potsdam has an 11-day layoff now until Wednesday, Dec. 18, when it will play at King's Point against the United States Merchant Marine Academy.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
