MEMPHIS, Tenn. --- The Mississippi College men's basketball team made a 21-2 run out of the halftime break but could not overcome Rhodes shooting 59% from the floor as they dropped their second straight game, 82-60, at Mallory Gymnasium.
The Lynx (3-4) held a 45-25 hafltime lead on the strength of shooting 64% (18-28) from the floor and 54% (6-11) from the three-point line in the first half. For the game, Rhodes went 31-53 from the floor and 11-21 from behind the arc.
In the second half, the Choctaws (4-3) made a 21-2 run to open the frame and cut the lead to 47-46 with 12:20 to go in the game. Geoff Livsey and Michael Gallagher each made three-pointers to push the lead to seven and Rhodes never looked back.
Junior Turmonte Ragland led MC with 16 points, going 5-9 from the floor and 6-8 from the free throw line. Senior Adam Smith had nine points and nine rebounds, while junior Lakin Ford had eight points and seven boards. MC outrebounded the Lynx, 38-31.
John Dunavant led Rhodes with 21 points, going 5-10 from the three-point line. Livsey had 18 points and nine rebounds, while Theo Hartwell and Andrew Galow were also in double-figures with 10 points.
The Choctaws will be back in action on Monday when they travel to Abilene, Texas to face Hardin-Simmons at 7:30 p.m.
