The St. John Fisher College men's basketball program tied the College record for 3-pointers in a game with 17, as the Cardinals went over the century mark in a 106-57 win over visiting University of Pittsburgh-Bradford on Sunday at Fisher's Manning & Napier Varsity Gym.
With the win, Fisher improves to 6-3 overall, while the Panthers fall to 5-3.
The 17 3-pointers ties the College-record, set back on January 26, 2007 in a 91-61 win over Elmira College.
It was the first time the Cardinals have scored 100 points in regulation since November 23, 2004 and the most points in a game since a 111-99 win in four overtimes at Ithaca College back in 2007. The 49-point win is the largest margin of victory since the Cardinals defeated Keuka College 108-57 in November of 1999 and is the second 40-point win of the season (Fisher defeated Alfred 85-40 earlier this month). The last Fisher team to have two 40-point wins in a season was back in 1996-97.
Several individuals also enjoyed career days.
Sophomore Optimystik Kinard scored a career-high 32 points (16 in each half) on 11-of-14 shooting from the floor, including a career-best six 3-pointers. It was the most points scored by a Fisher player since Jordan Gettings tallied 36 points back on January 8, 2011 – a span of 46 games.
Freshman point guard Chaz Lott scored a career-high 13 points (all in the first half), as the Cardinals cruised to a 54-25 lead the break. He also finished with a career-high nine assists and added six rebounds and three steals.
Freshman Tyler Hart scored a career-high nine points (all on 3-pointers), while Adam Ambielli finished with 13 points, including three 3-pointers.
Justin Plata and Jason Norsen each finished with seven points, while Matt Cooney tallied five points, five assists and five rebounds. Pete Notaro added four points and four boards.
It was a polar-opposite performance of last Sunday's home game. Fisher scored 54 points for the entire game, losing 61-54 to Worcester State. In last week's game, Fisher shot 22.9% in the first half (8-of-35) and connect on just 3-of-21 3-pointers (14.3%) for the game.
Fisher finished today's game shooting 38-of-67 (56.7%) from the floor, including 17-of-34 (50.0%) from 3-point range.
Fisher will return to action at 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 29th and will host Baruch College in the opening round of the Woodcliff Hotel and Spa Tournament.
