NEWTON, MASS. – Senior forward Antonio Davis (Albany, N.Y.) and freshman forward Evan Tullar (Chelsea, Vt.) led Norwich University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play Feb. 2.

Davis tossed in a game-high 13 points and grabbed a team-best six rebounds. Tullar ended with 11 points and dished out three assists to help guide Coach Paul Booth's Cadets (5-14, 4-9 GNAC).

Norwich found itself trailing 10-0 against a red-hot shooting Mount Ida (7-12, 4-8) less than five minutes in. The Maroon and Gold closed the gap quickly to 16-13 with a 13-6 roll of its own, but as was the case during the night, the host Mustangs got their offense going when it needed behind a 22-11 stretch to end the half for a 38-24 advantage. Booth's squad managed to whittle the margin to eight early in the second half (46-38) but an 11-2 answer from Mount Ida stretched the lead right back out. NU didn't close within 10 the remainder of the game.

The sophomore guard tandem of Nikolai Havoutis (Coral Gables, Fla.) and Tom McDonald (Groton, Mass.) nearly joined Davis and Tullar in double figures. Havoutis finished with nine points, four steals and two assists, and McDonald had nine points as well.

NU returns to league play Saturday, Feb. 4, with a 3 p.m. tipoff at the Harborside Recreation and Athletic Center on the campus of Johnson and Wales University. JWU claimed a five-point nailbiter from the Cadets in Northfield Jan. 26 winning by a 70-65 count.
