BETHLEHEM, Pa. (January 14, 2012) – Sophomore John Ford (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) hit a career-high six 3-pointers en route to a game-high 29 points in a 69-60 over a victory over Moravian (8-8, 3-2 Landmark) this afternoon. Drew ended an 11-game losing streak and improved to 3-13 on the season and 1-4 in Landmark Conference play.

Senior Asmar Capers (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) scored 20 or more points for the sixth time this season adding 20 points, six rebounds and five assists in the victory. Ford had a career day, going 8-of-13 from the floor and 6-of-9 from beyond the arc. Both Ford and Capers were perfect from the free throw line, going a combined 13-for-13.

For the Greyhounds, D.J. Strayhorn scored 28 points on 11-of-21 shooting to lead the Moravian attack. Garret Johnson was the only other player in double figures, chipping in 11 points and pulling down eight rebounds.

Both teams traded baskets over the first seven minutes of play before the Rangers took the lead for the rest of the half after two free throws by Capers in the 14th minute. Drew built an eight-point advantage over the next six minutes of play and eventually took a 33-28 lead into halftime.

The Greyhounds made their final push in the opening minutes of the second half going a 9-0 run and taking a 37-36 lead with 15:28 remaining in the game. The advantage would be short-lived as three-straight three balls, two from Ford and one from Capers, opened up a 10-point advantage with 10:12  remaining in the game.

With the help of Capers and Ford, the Rangers went 18-of-22 from the charity stripe in the second half to help maintain a lead for the remainder of the contest.

After a seven-game road trip, the Rangers will finally return to Madison this Friday to begin a four-game stint at home. Drew will continue Landmark Conference play this weekend when Goucher comes in for a 5:30 bout inside Baldwin Gym.
