LA PLUME, Pa. - The host Keystone College Giants posted five players in double-figures, accounting for 75 of Keystone's 78 points, and defeated the Rosemont College Ravens men's basketball team this afternoon by a final score of 78-60. The win kept the Giants in 2nd place in the CSAC with a record of 11-2 (6-1 CSAC). The Ravens dropped to 8-7 (5-4 CSAC) with the loss.
In the first half the Ravens had some difficulty getting traction, falling behind by as many as 14 points, 31-17, but improving somewhat down the stretch of the term, going into the half trailing the Giants 38-28.
After the break the Ravens moved to within six points at 40-34 before Keystone went on a 16-2 tear to move ahead 56-36. From that point the result was no longer in question.
Rosemont's Derrick Carter (Jr./Millville, NJ) led all players in scoring with 22 points on 9-for-13 shooting from the field and 3-for-3 from the line. Justin Chaney (Jr./Williamstown, NJ) also hit double-figures, scoring 12 points for the Ravens.
The Giant's leading scorer was Kenneth Hardnett with 20. He was joined in double-figures by Malcolm Boone (18), Dan Candemeres (14), Miles Dargan (12) and Mike Kelly (11). Hardnett grabbed 15 rebounds to lead both teams and to earn a double-double.
Rosemont is next scheduled to play the Scarlet Raptors in a non-conference game at Rutgers-Camden on Monday, 1/16 at 8:00pm.
