OSWEGO, N.Y. - Jumping out to a 24-0 lead, the 18th-ranked Oswego State men's basketball team (3-1) rolled to a 107-53 win over SUNY Cobleskill at Laker Hall in a non-conference game on Tuesday night.
The Lakers nailed 11 three-pointers in the opening half, hitting their first four attempts during the hot start to drop the Fighthing Tigers to 0-4 overall.
All five Oswego State starters scored in the opening run, led by 11 from Conor Monaghan (Sr., Brooklyn, N.Y.). The start quickly erased any thoughts of an upset just a season after Cobleskill fell by just one to the Lakers, 63-62.
Oswego State finished the half 11-of-18 from beyond the arc, the final make coming off the hand of freshman Kevin Davis (Shoreham, N.Y.), who scored his first career points on the shot.
Up 56-23 at the half, the Lakers used a balanced attack to reach the 100-point mark with 2:35 left to play. It was their highest point total since a 109-59 win over Cazenovia on December 18, 2009.
Senior Chad Burridge (Hannibal, N.Y.) finished with 15 points, moving him into seventh all-time in school history, passing Sean McLaughlin with 13:20 left in the second half. Burridge has now scored 1,429 career points.
Burridge led eight scorers who reached double-digits as all ten players who suited up for the Lakers found the scoring column. Hayden Ward's (Jr. Montauk, N.Y.) 13 points and 11 rebounds gave him his second straight double-double of the season. Sean Michele (Sr., East Rochester, N.Y.) also finished with 13 points to go along with five assists.
The Lakers have an extended holiday break before hosting Potsdam (3-1) on December 2 in the SUNYAC opener at 8 p.m.
