Center Valley, PA (January 15, 2011) – Ten different players scored and the DeSales University men's basketball team got 29 points from its bench in a 74-58 Freedom Conference win over FDU-Florham on Saturday afternoon in Billera Hall.
Sophomore Brett Moyer led the way with 18 points and also pulled down seven rebounds, junior Bob Zanneo added 16 points, 11 in the first half, and senior Brian Hunter had a solid all-around game with 12 points, eight assists, five rebounds, and two steals to lead DeSales.
Sophomore Brian Kerwin added eight points and five assists, freshman Paul Pammer pulled down a team-high eight rebounds and also had five assists, and senior Tom Marshall finished with five points and six rebounds in the win.
Junior Joe Missale led the Devils with a team-high 18 points off the bench on 4-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc and senior Ricky Fetske added 14 points in the loss. Junior Adam Katz totaled eight points and seven assists for FDU-Florham.
A Missale three at the 10:16 mark of the first half gave FDU (3-11, 1-4 Freedom) a 21-20 lead but it was all Bulldogs from there as a 19-4 run over the final 10 minutes gave the Bulldogs (10-5, 2-3 Freedom) a 14-point halftime lead. Zanneo scored all 11 of his first-half points to start the run and Moyer finished it off with consecutive lay-ups to end the half.
The lead swelled to as many as 25 points (52-27) at the 14:01 mark of the second half on a triple from Marshall and the Devils never got any closer than 13 points the rest of the way.
DeSales shot 47.5 percent from the field and hit nine three-pointers in the win. It is the eighth time in the last 10 games where the Bulldogs had more assists (25) than turnovers (13). The Devils shot just 36.2 percent from the field to suffer their third straight defeat and the eighth straight the series with the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs get a few days off before returning to action with the first of two important road games at Wilkes University on Wednesday, January 19th beginning at 8:00 pm.
