LAGRANGE, Ga. ---- The Huntingdon College men's basketball team picked up its first victory of the season with a 54-52 win over the University of Texas at Tyler on Friday. Senior James Daniels scored the game-winning goal off of a rebound from Ephriam Hudson's three-point attempt in the last second of the game at the LaGrange Classic for the Hawks.
The Hawks led by 19 points at the end of the first half, 33-14. However, in the second half the Patriots scored 38 points and tied Huntingdon with nine seconds left in the contest off of a three-pointer by Michael Johnson. Huntingdon's James Daniels grabbed the missed three-point attempt by Hudson and scored as time expired to seal the victory.
Senior Ephriam Hudson scored in double figures with 13 points, while grabbing six rebounds. Senior Adrian Williams also recorded double figures with 12 points, five rebounds, and two blocked shots.
Texas-Tyler (0-2) was paced by Jonathan Joyner, who scored 10 points in the loss.
For the game, the Hawks held a 40-33 advantage on the glass. Huntingdon converted 41.5 percent of its shots, hitting 22-of-53, while Texas-Tyler finished 19-of-50 (38 percent).
Huntingdon (1-1) will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 20, when it plays Centre College at 4 p.m. in the LaGrange Classic. Live statistics will be available on www.LaGrange.edu.
