Westminster (Mo.) named Talisha Washington as its new head women's basketball coach after James Arnold left the position to become the Athletic Director at NAIA school Columbia College.

Westminster Director of Athletics Matt Mitchell announced the move on Thursday via release.
“Naming Talisha the Head Coach was a no-brainer,” said Mitchell in the release. “She is one of our many successful alums and an important and highly regarded member of the Fulton community. We wish James the best in his new career and we look forward to what Talisha will add to the program.”
Washington played three seasons for the Blue Jays under Tracey Bradden and was a team captain in her senior season. She is a native of Fulton, the town where Westminster College is located and graduated from the local high school. She was an assistant under James Arnold for his two seasons as the head coach.
“I’m excited to continue working alongside these tremendous women,” said Washington in the release. “Together we will continue to strive to meet our goal of continually making the SLIAC Tournament and beyond. We have a solid foundation that was built by phenomenal coaches before me and I want to continue that culture.”
Arnold went 34-19, 21-11 in conference over his two years as Westminster's head coach. The Blue Jays finished 19-7, 12-4 in the SLIAC last season.
