No. 13 St. Joseph's (Maine) got some sun and a victory over Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday afternoon as the Monks rode Kelsi McNamara's monster game to victory. Elsewhere Thomas More continued its road rampage and Mary Hardin-Baylor blasted Austin.

St. Joseph's (Maine) made the most of its 3,070-mile trip from Standish, Maine to Claremont, California where the Monks defeated Pomona-Pitzer 74-70. Kelsi McNamara scored 16 of the Monks' 18 points in the final quarter and finished with 40 points and nine rebounds in 37 minutes. The Monks (11-0) stay in Southern California to play Occidental tomorrow.
No. 2 Thomas More continued its road rampage over ranked teams with a 71-56 over No. 21 DePauw in Indiana. The Tigers (9-3) trailed the Saints by just a point at the half, but the Saints (17-0) put the clamps on the Tigers in the second half and pulled away for the comfortable victory. Madison Temple padded her All-American resume with 28 points, 13 rebounds and three assists in 39 minutes.
No. 12 Mary Hardin-Baylor scored 18 straight points to turn a small deficit into a large lead and never looked back in a 96-65 route of No. 25 Austin. Hannah Holt was one of five Crusaders to score double-figures and added six rebounds for Mary Hardin-Baylor (12-0). Bryce Franke scored 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the 'Roos (9-2).
Most of the top-ranked teams returned to the court with easy wins on Saturday afternoon. No. 1 Bowdoin showed no rust coming off a three-week layoff as the Polar Bears outscored Wheaton (Mass.) 16-2 in the first quarter en route to a 72-49 victory. Maddie Hasson scored 17 points for Bowdoin (9-0). No. 4 Tufts was its usual stingy self in a 66-34 win over Suffolk. The Jumbos held the Rams to 24.5 percent shooting from the field (13-for-53).
No. 2 St. Thomas crushed Washington U. 66-36 in the first game of Wartburg's holiday tournament. The Tommies (10-0) held the Bears to 13 points on 3-for-17 shooting in the second half. Hannah Spaulding had 16 points on 7-for-8 shooting and Kaia Porter scored 19 points for the Tommies who play Wartburg tomorrow after the Knights rolled over North Central (Ill.) 87-57.
Holiday tournaments produced two upsets on Saturday afternoon. Carthage errupted for 28 points and rallied past No. 18 Gettysburg 68-62 at the D3hoops.com Classic in Las Vegas. Bailey Gilbert tallied 15 points, including four clutch free throws down the stretch to go with 12 rebounds,and five assists for the Lady Reds (6-5).
Transylvania capped its own holiday tournamet with a win over No. 11 Trine, 63-52. The Pioneers built a 22-point lead over the first three quarters and held off the Thunder for their ninth win of the season
No. 5 Hope followed up Friday night's close win over UW-Oshkosh with a 39-point win over tournament host Ohio Wesleyan, with Francesca Buchanan leading the way (22 points, seven rebounds). The Titans bounced back from the loss to Hope by crushing Penn State-Altoona 86-40 in its regular season non-conference finale.
DeSales dealt Trinity (Conn.) its first loss of the season 70-66 in the finale of Lehman's holiday tournament. The Bulldogs (9-2) held a 67-61 lead with 34 seconds left when Trinity (10-1) quickly scored five points on a layup, a steal and a three-point play. On DeSales' next possession Isabel Caruso made two free throws to push the Bulldogs lead back to three and the Bantams missed a potential game-tying three. Morgan Birmelin had 20 points and seven assists for DeSales which has won five straight.
The NESCAC's other surprise unbeaten team stayed that way, as Middlebury held Keene State to 15 points in the first half and cruised to a 55-40 win. Maya Davis scored 18 points for the Panthers (9-0).
MIT picked up a nice W over TCNJ, 56-46. Kylie Gallagher led three Engineers in double figures with 12 points and Kara Holinski fiished one rebound shy of a double-double. Capital clubbed Carnegie Mellon 71-42 behind a 12-point, 14-rebound performance for Erin Risner. The Tartans slipped to 9-2 with a combined 66-point margin of defeat in those losses.
Hood committed two turnovers, the lowest amount in a Division III women's basketball game this season, and defeated Susquehanna 70-58. The Blazers also tied their program record with 12 three-pointers.
