Hollins head coach jumps to EMU

Eastern Mennonite University stayed within the ODAC to fill its head women's basketball coaching vacancy, naming Hollins head coach Jenny Logan to the position.

EMU Director of Athletics Dave King announced the hire in the University's press release on August 14.

"I'm really excited to have Jenny join us at EMU to take over the quality program that Kevin [Griffin] developed during his time here," King said in the release. "She is a rising star in the coaching ranks of the ODAC and I'm glad she is coaching for us now rather than against us."

Griffin stepped down from the position in July to accept a ministry position in the Nazarene church.

Logan will make the jump from one of the weakest programs in the ODAC to one of the strongest.

Hollins has reached double-digits wins just once in the last 12 seasons and won one or zero games in the ODAC eight times over that stretch. Logan went 12-65 and 1-47 in the ODAC during her three seasons at Hollins. She was also the College's head cross country coach and director of strength and conditioning during her time in Roanoke.

Eastern Mennonite won 20-plus games four consecutive years and reached the NCAA Tournament three times from 2012 through 2015. The Royals finished 13-12 last season but return four starters.

The move also marks a return to the Shenandoah Valley for Logan, who was an All-Conference player at Bridgewater (Va.) and is a native of nearby Luray, Va.

"I am honored to be able to return home to the Valley and continue to pursue my passion of coaching college basketball," Logan said in Eastern Mennonite's release. "While we will continue to recruit all over the Northeast, we will also place an emphasis on recruiting the high caliber student athletes in the Shenandoah Valley."

Prior to her time at Hollins, Logan coached as an assistant at Mount St. Mary (N.Y.) and ODAC rival Lynchburg College.

The Royals open the 2018-19 season on Nov. 16 at McDaniel's tip-off event.
