Fredonia hired Sarah Cartmill as its new head coach, replacing Linda Hill-McDonald who resigned to take an assistant coaching position at Division I Canisius.

Director of Athletics Jerry Fisk announced the hire.

"I am excited to have Sarah join our staff and lead our women's basketball program," said Fisk in the school's release. "It was evident from her time on campus, and throughout the entire search process, that she has a passion for basketball and working with student-athletes."

Cartmill started her college basketball career as a player at Division I Binghamton where she was a three-time All-Conference selection and the America East Conference Player of the Year. After playing professionally in Denmark and Ireland, Cartmill spent time on the coaching staffs at Ithaca, St. Bonaventure and her alma mater. Bard College named Cartmill head coach in August 2014 and she went 9-66 in three seasons. Last season Cartmill served as an assistant to Michelle Collins at Hamilton, which also changed coaches this summer.

Cartmill replaces Linda Hill-McDonald who went 69-58 in five seasons as the Blue Devils' head coach. Hill-McDonald resigned to take an assistant position at Division I Canisius under former SUNY Geneseo head coach Scott Hemer.

Fredonia finished 9-16, 7-11 in the SUNYAC last season.
