Tom Glynn, who helped make Nichols a perennial contender in the CCC, will try to bring Rhode Island College back to that point in the Little East. The school announced Glynn as its new head men's basketball coach on Wednesday morning.

"Rhode Island College is a special place and I consider myself extremely fortunate to be part of this community," said Glynn in the school's release. "This basketball program has a winning tradition and great support from the campus and local community."
Glynn will try to restore the Anchormen to the success they enjoyed under former coach Bob Walsh. RIC had a run of eight consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, including two trips to the Sweet 16 and one to the Elite 8, in nine seasons under Walsh. He left RIC to take the head coaching job at Division I Maine in 2014.
After Walsh left, RIC turned to Michael Byrnes who led the Anchormen to a 20-8 finish in 2014-15. The Anchormen then sunk to the bottom half of the conference the last three seasons, including an 8-18 finish in 2017-18. RIC went 45-61 over four seasons under Byrnes, who left the program in April.
Over that same four-year stretch Glynn led Nichols to a 94-20 record including two straight CCC titles and NCAA Tournament appearances. Nichols set a new program record for victories with a 25-4 mark last season and made its first appearance in the D3hoops.com Top 25 in program history.
Before coming to Nichols, Glynn spent two seasons as an associate head coach at MIT and two seasons as an assistant at Division II Mass-Lowell. Glynn earned his bachelor's degree from Springfield in 2006 and his master's degree from Salem State in 2010.
