Dominican announced that Amanda Parker would be the Stars' new head women's basketball coach. Parker spent the last three seasons as the head coach at Muskegon Community College in Michigan.
Parker will also serve as the school's coordinator of athletic events.
"She has a great balance of administrative and coaching experience," athletic director Erick Baumann said in the university's release. "On top of that, she is a winner and competitor—having won during her time at Muskegon. It is that competitive spirit that will help keep our program moving forward as we look to work towards becoming a conference-championship caliber team."
Parker led Muskegon Community College to the NJCAA Region XII Semifinals in consecutive seasons including a 21-7 mark in 2016-17. She was named coach of the year by the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan (BCAM) in 2017 and the Michigan Community College Athletic Association in 2018. Parker also served as the college's assistant athletic director.
Parker played four years at Division I Western Michigan where she set the Broncos' career records in three-point field goal and free throw percentage.
"I am extremely grateful and excited to become a part of the DU family," said Parker in the release. "I look forward to working with a great group of young ladies and an amazing support staff."
Parker replaces Gabby Johnson who resigned in May to take a job at Division I Valparaiso.
The Stars finished 14-11, 10-10 in the NACC last season.
