Dean coach finds Peace in move

William Peace Univeristy announced Grahm Smith as its new head women's basketball coach. Smith had been the head coach at Dean College which is transitioning from a two-year athletic program to NCAA Division III.

"Grahm's enthusiasm, recruiting plan, basketball intellect, and his proven success with his athletes in the classroom propelled him to the top of over 90 applicants," said University Executive Director of Athletic Strategy and Special Projects Phil Rowe in the school's release. "He is a talented professional that fits well with what our program was looking for. Grahm knows what it takes to build and sustain a successful women's basketball program."

Smith spent the prior five seasons as the women's basketball head coach at Dean College in Franklin, Mass. He went 96-37 during that period, most of it as a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Dean finished 17-10 last season.

Smith played one season at fellow USA South Athletic Conference member Maryville before transferring to Palm Beach Atlantic where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. Smith earned his master's degree from Rockford where he worked as an assistant coach.

Grahm Smith replaces Brandy Smith who went 21-28 in two seasons as the Pacers' head coach.

William Peace finished 4-19, 4-12 in the USA South Athletic Conference last season.
