Moskowitz, who has been an assistant coach at SUNY New Paltz for the past three seasons, replaces Monique McLean. McLean coached the Saxons to a combined 8-67 record over the past three years.

The announcement was made April 30 by athletic director Paul Vecchio.

"I am extremely honored to have the opportunity to guide the Alfred University women's basketball program into one the campus, community and alumni can be proud of," Moskowitz stated. "I would like to thank Paul Vecchio, (assistant athletic director) Tony Aquilina, the search committee and everyone involved in the process for providing such a welcoming environment.

"Once I came to campus and met everyone, I knew this would be a great fit. The sincerity, passion and commitment to a collective excellence exemplified by the people I've met here at Alfred goes hand-in-hand with our core values."

At SUNY New Paltz, Moskowitz aided in recruiting, practice planning, scouting, skill workouts, and film study coordination among other responsibilities. During his tenure, the Hawks went 58-26 (.667), making the SUNYAC Tournament three times and winning it twice. They advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 in 2017 prior to bowing out to UMass-Dartmouth, 83-80.

Over the three years, Moskowitz helped New Paltz improve its averages in points scored, points allowed, field goal percentage, 3-point field goal percentage, free throw percentage, assists and turnovers committed.

Prior to New Paltz, he spent one season as the student assistant for the Oneonta State men's basketball team where he helped with coordinating game film, individual workouts and practice planning. During that season, the Dragons went 13-13, reaching to the 2014-15 SUNYAC tournament where they fell in the quarterfinals.

Before moving up to the collegiate ranks, Moskowitz was the JV girls basketball head coach and varsity assistant coach at Unadilla Valley Central School where he coached former Alfred standout Amanda Off. While at AU, Off scored 1,350 points, which ranks second all-time in program history.

Since 2013, Moskowitz has served in various roles at a variety of basketball camps including the SUNY New Paltz Basketball Camp, New York Knicks Basketball Camp and Greg Koubek Overnight Basketball Camp. He has also served as the head coach of the Triple Threat, an AAU basketball team, since 2016.

"I am extremely excited to welcome Mike to our staff and university," Vecchio, said. "He brings with him tremendous energy, outstanding basketball knowledge and the experience of having spent the past three seasons at one of the state's top Division III women's basketball programs. We had an extremely competitive candidate pool and Mike stood out because of his tremendous passion for developing young women to excellence both on and off the court."

Moskowitz will assume his position immediately. He said, "It's obvious they are ready to get to work with a disciplined, focused and relentless effort toward the pursuit of excellence."
