Long-time Millsaps head men's basketball coach Tim Wise will be relinquishing his coaching duties and moving into a full-time administrative role with the Majors athletics department. Wise will be an assistant athletic department for Millsaps, working on business operations and fund raising efforts for the department.

The Majors went 4-22 this past season, 1-13 in the Southern Athletic Association. His teams went 143-220 over his 14 seasons.

"My family and I are very grateful for the opportunities that have been given by the college to teach and lead the men's basketball program," remarked Wise. "To witness young men improve and mature as people and basketball players has been a joy beyond measure. I look forward to what lies ahead with full-time athletic administration work and in assisting our student-athletes and coaches."

Wise began his coaching career at Millsaps in 1998 as an assistant coach, taking on the head coaching role for the 2003-04 season. His 14 seasons at the helm of the program, the second most in Millsaps history, included the 2007-08 season when Wise led the Majors to a 28-4 record and the school's only NCAA Tournament appearance where they won three games to advance to the Elite 8. With 143 victories during his tenure, Wise is the third winningest coach all-time at Millsaps.

"I would like to thank Tim for all of his efforts with our men's basketball program over the past 14 years," said athletic director Donnie Brooks. "He is very dedicated to Millsaps athletics and I look forward to his continued contributions as an administrator for our program."

A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
