October 14, 2016 Better late than never Less than 24 hours before Division III teams were allowed to begin practice for the new season, Olivet named its new women's basketball coach. Zach Ingles replaces Nicole Burford who took an assistant coach position at Division I Oakland.

September 21, 2016 Campbell retires from Western Connecticut When Western Connecticut starts the 2016-17 men's basketball season, it'll do so with a different head coach for the first time in more than three decades. The University announced that long-time head coach Bob Campbell is retiring and will be replaced on an interim basis by Jason Harlow.

September 8, 2016 Bulldogs trying Trine assistant Adrian officially welcomed Trine assistant Kyle Lindsay as its new men's basketball head coach. Lindsay played football and basketball at Adrian and also coached at Illinois College.

August 26, 2016 Red Dragons pull Plattsburgh assistant SUNY Oneonta lost its head men's basketball coach when Vince Medici took a high school athletic director position. The Red Dragons replaced him this morning by hiring Cameron Conover who had been an assistant at SUNYAC rival Plattsburgh.

August 25, 2016 Hanging up the white shoes After 603 victories and two trips to the national semifinals, Gerry Matthews decided to hang up his trademark white coaching shoes and retire from Stockton. Matthews joins the list of D3 coaching veterans who've walked away this offseason while long-time assistant Scott Bittner takes over the Ospreys' program.

August 18, 2016 Mighty Macs back Hyman Immaculata has only had men's basketball for 11 seasons, but that's long enough to choose an alum as its next head coach. Jayson Hyman takes over the Mighty Macs program, replacing Terrence Stewart who moved on to Division II.

August 17, 2016 Have Nelson: MSOE turns to Johns Hopkins assistant Katie Nelson, who was an assistant at Johns Hopkins the past six seasons, was named the next head coach for Milwaukee School of Engineering. She replaces Jessica Ott who became the head coach and Athletic Director at conference rival Alverno.

August 12, 2016 Drew names former D1 coach to interim spot Drew picked John Olenowski to fill its women's vacancy on an interim basis. Olenowksi, who coached Division I Manhattan for seven seasons, replaces Brittany Gaetano who moved on to Colby.

August 9, 2016 LeBlanc moves back to Millsaps The chain of coaching moves that started with John Ross' leaving Calvin has now reached Shreveport, Louisiana. Justin LeBlanc is headed to Millsaps to replace Chuck Winkelman who headed to Calvin.

August 8, 2016 One for a Thousand: Huff hired as new coach at Edgewood Edgewood lost its coach, Casey Thousand, when she accepted an assistant position at Northern Michigan. So the Eagles hired a new one, Chaia Huff, who comes to Madison, Wisconsin from Grace University in Omaha.

August 3, 2016 Keystone fills vacancy again For the second time this off season, Keystone has filled its women's basketball head coaching vacancy. After Keystone's first hire left for another job, the Giants named Shenandoah assistant Meghan Sullivan to the post.

August 2, 2016 Centenary (N.J.) selects former D2 coach to lead program Centenary (N.J.) named former East Stroudsburg (Pa.) head coach Rose Haller as its new head women's basketball coach. She replaces Andrea Kendall who left Centenary in May to become Randolph College's new head coach.

July 30, 2016 Redding stays near Reading for Penn State-Berks job Tim Redding, who went to college in Reading, Pennsylvania and coached the high school there, is staying in Berks County to take the job at Penn State-Berks.

July 29, 2016 White resigns as Adrian's head coach Mark White resigned his position with the Bulldogs to take the head coaching job and an administrative position at River Rouge High School near Detroit. Adrian is the third MIAA men's team to change coaches this off season.

July 26, 2016 Colby names Gaetano head coach of women's basketball Brittany Gaetano, head coach at Drew since 2010 and a former assistant at Amherst College, is the new head coach of the Colby College women's basketball program. She replaces Julie Veilleux who stepped down to take a job outside of coaching.

July 25, 2016 Arte Culver named head men's basketball coach at Covenant Covenant became the fourth conference champion to change coaches during the off season. Wheaton (Ill.) assistant Arte Culver will take over for Kyle Taylor who left his head coach and Athletic Director post to take a job at Division I Utah State.

July 20, 2016 Olivet names Ernst interim coach Olivet's last men's basketball head coach was hired despite not being listed as a finalist for the position during the hiring process. Stephen Ernst will be their next coach on an interim basis despite only joining the staff three months earlier.

July 18, 2016 Falcons' assistant lands atop Del Val's perch Messiah assistant Mark Seidenburg is returning to the Philadephia region to take over Delaware Valley's program. He replaces Casey Stitzel who left the Aggies to become the new head coach at Division II Millersville (Pa.).

July 18, 2016 Assistant returns to lead King's after leaving for Keystone Three months ago Caitlin Hadzimichalis left her position as assistant coach at King’s to become the new head coach at Keystone. But after King’s head coach Brian Donoghue moved on to Division I, Hadzimichalis decided to return to King's to fill its vacancy instead.

July 18, 2016 Jason Rhine named women's coach at Misericordia Jason Rhine has been named head women?s basketball coach at Misericordia University, Chuck Edkins, director of athletics has announced. The Cougars return all five starters from last year's team.

July 16, 2016 McGuinness returns to CWRU as head coach Todd McGuinness, a former Case Western Reserve assistant coach and current Hartwick head men's basketball coach, will take over the Spartans program.

July 11, 2016 Lancaster retires at Aurora After 30 seasons at Aurora, including 22 as the Spartans' head men's basketball coach, James Lancaster has decided to retire from coaching. He is the latest in a line of long-time men's coaches to retire this offseason. Aurora named assistant Lance Robinson as his replacement.

July 11, 2016 Barons name Joe Wallace head coach Franciscan (Ohio) changed its men's basketball head coach for the third time in three seasons. Joe Wallace, who spent time on the coaching staff at three Division I schools, takes over a program that has won 13 games total over the last five seasons.

July 7, 2016 McCormick goes from Bucs to Blues Jennifer McCormick left her position as head coach at Beloit College to take over the program at Illinois College. The Lady Blues finished in fifth place in the MWC last season, a few slots ahead of McCormick's team.

July 7, 2016 Penn State-Altoona names McGreal head coach Penn State-Altoona went to LaGrange and plucked assistant coach David McGreal for its next head coach. McGreal, who played four years at Maryville, replaces Doug West who resigned after one season.

July 7, 2016 Alverno College names Jessica Ott Director Of Athletics, Basketball coach Alverno lost its head coach and athletic director to UW-Stevens Point earlier this offseason. On July 7 the Inferno selected former Pointer All-American and MSOE head coach Jessica Ott to fill those two vacancies.

July 6, 2016 Bantams tap Patriot League Assistant for head post Trinity (Conn.) named Emily Garner as its next head coach, replacing Wendy Davis. Garner spent the last six seasons as an assistant at Army.

July 1, 2016 Sharks catch a new coach Simmons hired former FDU-Florham assistant Michael Williams as its new head basketball coach. Williams was part of Marc Mitchell's FDU staff when the Devils won the national championship two seasons ago.

July 1, 2016 SUNY Canton fills men's vacancy After building a career as an assistant coach at several southern scholarship programs, Ben Thompson is coming north – way north – to fill SUNY Canton’s coaching vacancy. He’ll be the Roos' new men’s basketball head coach.

June 30, 2016 Newbury changes women's coach After changing its men's coach earlier in the offseason, the Nighthawks made a move atop their women's program, too. Springfield assistant Marc Taney takes over for Nate Stailey effective immediately.

June 30, 2016 After the Light, it's a new Day for John Jay John Jay College named SUNY-Old Westbury's lead assistant Lynda Day as its new head women's basketball coach. She replaces MollyAnne Light who went 14-37 in two seasons with the Bloodhounds.

June 28, 2016 Shell returns to MASCAC via MCLA Derek Shell's last win as a head coach was against MCLA in the 2013 MASCAC title game. His next win will be on the Trailblazers' sideline as MCLA's new head coach.

June 27, 2016 Pioneers select Schultz to lead the way into CCIW Carroll will head into its new conference with a new women's basketball coach. Lindsay Schultz, who has eight years of experience as a Division I assistant coach, replaces Kris Jacobsen who stepped down in April.

June 24, 2016 Texas two-step takes Smith to D1 Texas Lutheran head coach Jimmy Smith has stepped down from his position with the Bulldogs after two seasons to become an assistant at Division I Sam Houston State. Smith’s two-year tenure at TLU followed a two-year stint as head coach at Schreiner.

June 21, 2016 La Crosse chooses Middleton to lead program UW-La Crosse went outside Wisconsin and Division III to select former Division I player and coach Karen Middleton as its next head women’s basketball coach. She replaces Lois Heeren who stepped down in March after 17 seasons at the helm of the Eagles' program.

June 21, 2016 Jay Smith accepts men's basketball coaching position at Kalamazoo College Jay Smith has been a head coach at the Division I and Division II levels in Michigan and now he'll be a head coach at the Division III level in that same state.

June 16, 2016 Pace goes coast-to-coast for new position After playing and coaching in New England, Jill Pace is headed to Southern California where she’ll be the next head coach at Pomona-Pitzer. She replaces Kathy Connell who retired in March after 20 seasons with the Sagehens.

June 9, 2016 Gordon fills women's vacancy After Corey Laster left Gordon College for a Division II head coaching job in the west, the Scots picked another Division II coach from the west to take his place. Carter Shaw comes to Gordon after to two seasons at Cal State Los Angeles.

June 3, 2016 Brown steps down at Wittenberg After 23 seasons at Wittenberg, Bill Brown decided to step down as the Tigers’ head coach. Brown won 543 games in 29 seasons, including 483 in his time in Springfield, Ohio.

June 2, 2016 Eastern Nazarene turns to NAIA veteran Eastern Nazarene hired Scott Polsgrove, who has 20 years of college coaching experience in Division II and NAIA, to fill its men's basketball vacancy. He replaces James Aller who resigned a couple weeks earlier.

June 1, 2016 Pine Manor hires new women's coach Pine Manor selected two-time D3hoops.com All-Northeast Region honoree Alycia Gervais as its next head coach. Gervais had been an assistant at two Division II programs after graduating from Daniel Webster.

June 1, 2016 CWRU Head Men’s Basketball Coach Sean McDonnell Announces Resignation Sean McDonnell, the head coach of the Case Western Reserve University men’s basketball program since 2003, has announced his resignation.

May 24, 2016 Colorado College calls upon Colgate assistant After coaching as an assistant for two seasons at Division I Colgate, Katherine Menendez is returning to Division III as Colorado College's next coach. She was previously an assistant at Emory and Illinois Wesleyan and played four years for North Central (Ill.)

May 19, 2016 Randolph turns to former player as next men's coach Randolph hasn't had a men's basketball program for very long, but long enough to hire a former player as its next head coach. Pete Hamilton will lead the WildCats after his former coach Clay Nunley left for Roanoke.

May 19, 2016 Chuck Winkelman named Calvin women's basketball coach Calvin selected Millsaps head coach Chuck Winkelman to fill the head coaching vacancy created when John Ross stepped down. Winkelman has a .698 winning percentage after 15 seasons at Hendrix and Millsaps.

May 18, 2016 From DVU to Div 2 After winning three conference titles in six years, Casey Stitzel is leaving Delaware Valley University to become the head coach at Division II Millersville (Pa.). Stitzel won 116 games in his six seasons with the Aggies.

May 18, 2016 West heads back to high school alma mater After just one season as the head coach at Penn State-Altoona, former NBA player Doug West is leaving the University to take over Altoona (Pa.) Area High School's program.

May 10, 2016 Houghton hires McMullen After becoming a full member of Division III last season, Houghton has named Corky McMullen as its next head men's basketball coach. McMullen graduated from Houghton in 2007 and worked as an assistant at Rochester Tech.

April 28, 2016 Utica welcomes Coffey as head men's basketball coach Utica athletic director David Fontaine formally announced the hiring of Sean Coffey as men's basketball head coach. Coffey, who is the seventh coach in program history (NCAA era), most recently spent five seasons on the sidelines as a full-time assistant coach at St. John Fisher.

April 27, 2016 Seewald lands at Marian With her alma mater looking for a new head coach, former Carroll All-American Lyndsey Seewald landed at Marian University. She'll be the Sabres new head coach next season.

April 25, 2016 Sul Ross hires assistant from D2 champs Sul Ross State named Caleb Henson as its next head coach. He was an assistant for Lubbock Christian which won the 2016 Division II championship with a 35-0 record.

April 22, 2016 Sansom to ride herd over Bison Bethany chose former Montclair State assistant coach Brian Sansom as its next women's basketball head coach. Sansom also coached at Pitt-Bradford and Division I FDU-Teaneck.

April 21, 2016 Tufts assistant takes over Cedar Crest Former Tufts assistant coach Kristin Karat moved from one side of the winning spectrum to the other as she was named the next head coach at Cedar Crest. The Falcons have had two winning seasons since 1993 and no wins last season.

April 21, 2016 Roanoke nabs Nunley Roanoke named Randolph College coach Clay Nunley as its new head coach, replacing Page Moir who retired after 27 seasons. Nunley had led the WildCats' program from its inception in 2007.

April 20, 2016 Keystone changes coaches again Caitlin Hadzimichalis will try to provide stability to the Keystone women's basketball program. The Giants have changed coaches five times since Caitlin Ryan left the program after 2008.

April 15, 2016 Former Celtic takes over at Newbury Former Boston Celtic and Boston College standout Dana Barros has found a new challenge near his hometown -- rebuilding Newbury's men's basketball program. The College announced him as its new head coach.

April 14, 2016 Fitchburg selects Nagle for rebuild Fitchburg State was one of six teams without a win in women's basketball last season. Daniel Nagle, who was an assistant at Mass-Boston and a head coach at Worcester (Mass.) Academy, will try to turn the Falcons' program around.
