John Jay hopes that Lynda Day will bring some of the success that she enjoyed as the lead assistant coach at SUNY-Old Westbury to her new post in Manhattan. She was named the Bloodhounds' new head women's basketball coach effective in June.
"It is an honor to be given this amazing opportunity to lead the John Jay Bloodhounds program," said Day in a release. "I am confident with hard work and consistency we will improve each day as athletes, students, and most importantly as people."
Day comes to the Upper West Side of New York City from Long Island where she was the lead assistant at SUNY-Old Westbury for five seasons. The Panthers won the Skyline title last year and made their first appearance in the NCAA Division III women's basketball tournament. Day previously coached at her alma mater Division II Queens (N.Y.) College for three seasons.
Day replaces MollyAnne Light who went 14-37 in two seasons with the Bloodhounds. John Jay finished 6-20, 3-13 in the CUNYAC last season.
