Anita Howard came in, turned the Salem College women's basketball program around, and went right back out again. After the Spirits went to the NCAA Tournament for the first time, Howard moved to Division II Livingstone, where she was hired as head coach.

Howard's team went 21-5 this past season and 36-16 in her two years after she inherited a team that had won just three games.

"I'm excited about my coaching staff," said Howard. "Each of my coaches comes from phenomenal backgrounds, so we're looking to build a championship mentality around our student-athletes."

In her first season, Howard's team set a school record with 17 wins, placing second in the conference and making it to the conference championship finals before making history again the subsequent year when they won 21 games.

Howard was named the 2013 Great South Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, and Satavia Taylor earned Player of the Year honors in Howard's two years at the school.
