Ryan Gould has been named head women's basketball coach at Trine, the school's athletic department announced Monday.

He replaces former NBA player Steve Mix, who returned to college coaching for the first time since 1985 and went 20-31 in two seasons, 11-21 in the MIAA.

Gould takes over as head coach after serving as an assistant coach last season. Gould has seven years of head coaching experience at Fort Wayne Snider High School. Prior to coaching in the high school ranks, Gould spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Grace College. He also serves as the head coach of the Trine tennis programs, both of which have shown steady improvement under Gould's guidance.

"Coach Gould's familiarity with players already in the program, coupled with his experience as a head coach and assistant coach across multiple levels, will be a tremendous asset for the Trine women's basketball program," said Matt Land, athletic director at Trine. "He brings the passion and knowledge this program needs moving forward."

Gould graduated from Grace College in Winona Lake with a bachelor's degree in elementary education and also earned a teaching license in special education from Indiana State.

The Trine women's basketball team is coming off a season in which the Thunder finished 6-19 overall and 3-13 in the MIAA.
